The AFPMAR publishes its Standard

The European eel fishery is one of the most regulated and controlled professional fisheries in France by national services and administrations.

The AFPMAR standard describes all the criteria and controls applied to the glass eel fishery.

In addition to the regulatory controls carried out by the various administrations from capture to sale to the end user, rules of good practice have been published to significantly reduce the mortality of glass eels after fishing and to increase the quality of glass eels used in particular for restocking or rearing. These rules are described in a document drawn up on the basis of observations made during the European INDICANG project and published by official fisheries bodies and WWF France.
