On Thursday 1st December, the Comité Régional des Pêches d’Occitanie organised an eel release with the participation of the professional fishermen of the Ayrole pond and the company Aguirrebarrena for the transport of the 1,180 kg of eels caught.

The eels were then released at Gruissan plage with a follow-up of the operation made by the scientists of the SEANEO consultancy office.

These operations, which are carried out annually and on a recurring basis, make it possible to minimise the mortality of eels during their migration to the sea and to have a scientific follow-up carried out on all our lagoons, which makes it possible to collect numerous observations on the characteristics of migrating eels.
