The first restocking in 2025 was carried out in the south-west of France on the Biscarosse – Parentis lake (see our previous news item) under the coordination of the CRPMEM of Nouvelle-Aquitaine (Comit\u00e9 R\u00e9gional des P\u00eaches Maritimes des P\u00eaches et des Elevages Marins). The glass eels came from both fluvial and marine fisheries, fished with different gears, but in accordance with the guide to good practice for fishing and restocking. The glass eels were supplied by a SEG-labelled wholesaler and an AFPMAR-labelled wholesaler. As usual, the Gendarmerie Nationale and Affaires Maritimes checked the legality of the products and the release.<\/p>\n

The glass eels were released, as shown in the CRPMEM video, according to a protocol defined by the French authorities. Some of the glass eels were marked with a vital dye to study their fate; this marking operation was carried out by FishPass, a company specialising in this type of operation.<\/p>\n

The operation went well, and the analysis of the quality of the glass eels showed that out of 300 glass eels analysed, one showed slight lesions. This analysis demonstrates the quality of the glass eels produced by the French glass eel industry and fished in accordance with the guidelines of the good practice guide on which the AFPMAR standard is based.<\/p>\n
